What We Do

Buxton Consulting Ltd. is a private company that specializes in providing career planning; vocational and rehabilitation assessments; employment marketing and placement; occupational and lifestyle counseling; as well as conducting training seminars and workshops for corporate and public sector organizations.

We have an excellent network of community resources for career planning, which helps us provide current and future job market information and keeps us up to date with current government programs and services, as well as training courses or other educational opportunities. We also provide our clients with assistance in job search techniques, including writing resumes and cover letters, filling out application forms, interviewing successfully, and using certain methods to tap into the hidden job market.

Our assessments involve a variety of personality tests, interest tests, and aptitude tests which can determine potential employment skills and match personality characteristics with appropriate vocational options, as well as define a client's interest in various activities and the available employment alternatives. We also offer workshops based on a variety of relevant topics, and counseling services which are tailored to each client's unique needs.

Who We Serve

At Buxton, we provide services for individuals, the Ministry of Social Development and Poverty Reduction, Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills, Ministry of Jobs, Economic Development and Innovation, Service Canada, WorkSafe BC, private insurance companies, corporate sector organizations, non-profit societies, physicians, and lawyers.

We proudly provide employment services through the VSTEP Young Adult Employment Program, for individuals aged 16-29 experiencing barriers or challenges that directly impact their ability to prepare, find and maintain employment. Services are individualized and can be provided in person or through a virtual environment.

We also provide employment services through our QUEST Program (Quality Employment and Skills Training Services), for persons 16 or older facing multiple barriers to employment. Services can be provided in person or through a virtual environment.

Our Beginnings

Buxton Consulting Ltd. was founded in October 1987 and is a privately owned limited company. The owner Bruce Buxton has a Master's Degree in Social Work and is a Registered Rehabilitation Professional (RRP). Mr. Buxton has been a counselor and vocational consultant for more than thirty years. Since 1990 Wendy Weir Buxton, Executive Director, has applied her skills and talents to grow the company. By combining extensive experience, strong communication skills and a positive, enthusiastic manner, they have worked hard to produce a successful and highly satisfied clientele.
