Participant Success – Construction Worker
- Program Objective -
The “Virtual Skill for Employment Preparation Program (VSTEP) is designed to reduce the unemployment rate of Young Adults, aged 17 – 29, facing significant barriers to Employment.
- Training Plan Development -
Participant attended 1:1 workshops including job search techniques, resume writing and interview skills. Participant was encouraged and coached to find employment that provided working hours and wages that supported them financially. Participant was accepted into the Bridges to Employment Program at the Foundry. Participant successfully completed the program and networked their way to a welder’s helper position.
- Supports Provided -
Participant was supported by the Employment Specialist with required steel toed boots and hard hat to assist with employment start and retention.
- Results -
Participant has maintained consistent full-time employment at a construction company. They stated that “I may have found my calling.”
