- Program Objective -
The “Virtual Skill for Employment Preparation Program (VSTEP) is designed to reduce the unemployment rate of Young Adults, aged 17 – 29, facing significant barriers to Employment.
- Training Plan Development -
Participant worked through the on-line Type Focus Career Assessment to identify their personality type and likes and dislikes as it relates to career and education. The participant determined that they would like to attend post secondary school. Participant required an English course to improve their grade to get into the program they were seeking and would also require Office 365 to complete homework. The Employment Specialist (ES) was able to secure the computer program after which the participant enrolled in the English course and successfully completed it.
- Supports Provided -
Cost of one year subscription of Office 365 was covered for the participant. While taking the English Course, ES helped the participant improve their interview skills and worked along with them to create a new resume. ES also assisted the participant with job search.
- Results -
Participant has been employed full time for more than 6 months and is content with the job. They are interested in continuing to pursue post secondary training after saving money from employment.
